Fountaingate Guard/Attendant Poll Report – 7/7/2025

This report reflects responses collected from a community poll distributed to 41 villas within Fountaingate. We received over 22 responses, resulting in a poll participation rate of more than 54%.

Each response was reviewed and aggregated into a single vote per villa to better reflect what an official vote might represent. If multiple responses were received from the same villa, only one was counted. No villas submitted conflicting or split responses.

All responses are anonymous, unless the participant voluntarily included identifying information.

This poll is informational only and not an official vote. It is intended to gauge overall community sentiment and help guide future discussions.

Hi! I won't be there tomorrow but if there's ever a vote in a proper forum Dan and I will vote to keep Mario

Hi, This is Dee in Villa 43. I'm not going to be able to attend tomorrow's meeting. However I do support all the security that we can afford. I would like to see 24 seven security. It is worth what it cost.

Fountaingate Gate Attendant

I know a lot of people feel that a benefit of living in a gated community is having a guard at the gate. We also liked the idea when we first moved in. However, after living here for a little over two years we have not seen any benefit to it. While it is convenient to have someone open the gate for you when we drive in, that alone does not warrant the insane amount of money we pay to have an attendant. Because that is indeed what we have. A gate ATTENDANT and nothing more. Mario does nothing extra that warrants that money. We could easily use the money for a one time upgrade of our security systems ie cameras, digital code pad, and a gate sensor that ACTUALLY works. What we have now works about 40% of the time.

Mario is not here past 6 pm and is not here at all on weekends. So what “safety” are we gaining from that? Absolutely nothing.

It is a false sense of security because at the end of the day, he is an attendant and does not provide security.

We feel having some sort of security system is crucial to a gated community. Every other gated community has an up to date system that works well and prevents unwanted persons from entering.

I know that NO ONE who is wanting to get rid of Mario is suggesting we just have nothing in his place. We all agree we want a better solution than what we have now.

Question is: gate attendant or 24/7 security

No attendant implies no security

This issue has me stuck in the middle. Personally, I tend to lean toward removing the attendant, but I also understand that what’s good for the goose isn’t always good for the gander. So, I plan on not voting, essentially just voting with the majority…. if it comes up officially.

My only real concern is what happens if we remove the attendant. I’m not sure why we need to reinvent the wheel with new gate software and hardware. What we currently have seems to work fine every single Saturday and Sunday. While there may be some newer technologies out there that do the same job differently, I’d like to hear specific use cases that justify something different from what we already purchased and paid for.

This could also give us the chance to test what it's like without an attendant for six months. If we don’t like it, we can always add the attendant back in without wasting money on new technology we didn’t really need. It just seems a little more fiscally responsible and gives us time to figure out exactly what kind of technology we would need, rather than just going with the newest, shiniest software that two or three board members think is best.
